Ep. 11: A Chat with Chillicothe Police Chief Ron Meyers and Social Worker Joanna Denny
Police work is a remarkably different profession than when Chillicothe Police Chief Ron Meyers joined the force more than two decades ago. But his work, plus the work of his predecessor, Keith Washburn, might be changing the city.
Meyers is in his third year as chief and he's been focused on how mental health and other social issues impact those who commit crimes - and those who fight crime. Joanna Denny came on board as the first social worker to be hired by CPD and they've teamed up to help change the perception of police and how the officers do their job. Together, they are breaking new ground in southern Ohio.
